    good sub

Shaw Direct (formely *choice) makes for a good sub, my package is called digital basic and costs $25. CDN per month (inc tax) 40 tv and 40 music channels, the tv side of things offer 10 HD channels and 30 SD. No contract, Receiver is a motorola 505 (nonPVR) only downfall is DVI not HDMI but you can run 2 tv's off the same receiver if you dont mind the same channel being played.........FYI..........

here is a heads up for any tech ppl out there, i had a motorolla 305 receiver and had a guy somehow change my unit id number to his and we all watched tv from his sub. He charged us 15.00 each per month. I know of at least 10 ppl in my area alone who went with this and it worked great.
He told us to never call or try to order a ppv event, if we wanted an event just pay him and he would order it.
Apparently a few ppl were not up on paying the 15.00 so if they did not they still received their sat tv.
So he used another system and changed a bunch of us over to it and charged us 6 months at a time, the delinquent ones stayed on the old system and if they no pay he would not sub until they paid.
Well about a year later we lost all programming, apparently someone had called *choice and squealed him out. He told me he was lying low as his sub was cancelled and *choice had called asking questions, apparently he played dumb and they bought it.
About 2 months after that i decided to call and try an add that receiver to my account, when they tried to send out a hit nothing happened. i was put on hold for a senior tech.
They asked me if i knew a person by the name ???? and told me the receiver was black listed. When they asked where i bought it, i told them at a flea market a few hrs away, and i had only paid 15.00 for it.
I asked what black listed meant? was it unpaid sub owing?
he sais no and he could not say anything else...
I do not know much about this, one buddy told me they were flashing the unit id ito the other receiver, i do know he had to take the receiver and chip it, when it came back we all had the same unit id numbers.
Any info would help as this was a sure money saver for subbing

If you are really hard up to watch this sat for a discounted price, you can get a full blown subscription, watch it for a few months, UNPLUG the satelite feed and call in and cancell your sub. Then wait 6 months a day to plug the cable back in. The "kill" command stays in the stream for 6 months and automatically retires at 6 months. The only sad part is that you cant watch it for 6 months but then it will stay on for however long after.... but thats just what little bird tweeted about who used to work in NOC.... each to his own. Borrowing cable from the neighbours is easier IMHO.

Unfortunatly it no longer works, this was corected along with the free ppv scams. If u hooked up the receiver to phone line and activated it u could order ppv with your remote. Once you learned the day they contacted the receiver to find out what stored programs u had ordered, u could unplug it from the phone line that day, then after they swept all the receiver via phone line, they would send out a hit via satellite to clear the memory. It was done by computer and was automated, i had some friends getting ppv non stop for over a year, i never bothered as wwe had bins for the fta.
Apparently they caught on and it was corrected along with the kill command for cancelled subs.
The cloning of an active receiver was and still may be the way to go, i imagine you would be able to flash or clone older receivers. As long as they never go to a carded system and still have older systems in use i think it may still be possible to flash or clone some older models off a working sub..
